DALAT: The Community Exploration Programme Meeting of the Sarawak Civil Defence Force (APM) in Dalat District recently took place in the meeting room of the Dalat District Office.
Dalat APM officer 2nd Lt (PA) Muhammad Helmi Halim stated that the meeting was held to discuss exercises intended for the public.
“This includes setting the date and proposing locations for the implementation of the programme around the district. The programme’s implementation is scheduled from April to July this year.”
He explained that the purpose of the APM Community Exploration Programme is to provide training to the public, making them proficient in rescue operations and aware of the disasters faced in our country.
“In addition, it encourages the public to have basic civil defence knowledge and skills to be always prepared in facing emergencies and disasters. Not only that, they can also assist, especially in emergency situations, before rescue agencies arrive at the location.
“Furthermore, this programme can provide understanding and knowledge to the public about APM.”
2nd Lt (PA) Muhammad Helmi added that the programme aims to instil a spirit of volunteerism, readiness to provide assistance, and appreciation for shared lives and property.
Additionally, it is an effort to promote and attract the public, especially in the district, to recognise the scope of APM duties and to become members of Dalat APM.
