KUCHING: The Sarawak Art Museum will be closed to the public from August 14 to December 31 for renovation and conservation works.
The old art museum building was built in 1949. It has been used as a study room and library since.
It was once used by the British Council as a library before it was handed over to the Sarawak Education Department in 1958.
In 1959, the building was handed over to Sarawak Museum to be used as a library and archive. The old building underwent renovation in 2001 and was known as the Sarawak Art Museum.
