KUCHING: Sarawak is expected to experience thunderstorms at all of its divisions followed by heavy rains and strong winds.
The Malaysian Meteorology Department (MET Malaysia) have issued a warning yesterday that the country will experience thunderstorms and strong winds from various directions.
According to MET Malaysia Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF), European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts (ECMWF) and Global Forecast System (GFS), the thunderstorms in the country will last from Aug 27 to Aug 30.
“The winds in the country are expected to be weak and multi-directional during this period.
“This situation is conducive to the formation of thunderstorm clouds, especially in the afternoon to early night,” it added.
In Sarawak, MET Malaysia said the state will experience thunderstorms in the central and northern parts including the rural areas.
According to its website, it showed that Kuching, Samarahan, Serian, Sri Aman and Sarikei divisions will be affected by the thunderstorms.
Mukah, Betong, Sibu, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri as well as Limbang divisions will also experience thunderstorms and heavy rains.
