KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 703 Covid-19 positive cases today (June 7) – up by 103 cases from the June 6 figure of 600 – raising the state’s total number of positive to 51,874.
The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 346 cases or 49.21 percent of the total cases detected were in Kuching, Miri and Tanjung Manis districts.
Kuching and Miri districts recorded the highest number at 139 each respectively, followed by Tanjung Manis (68), Kapit (58), Sibu (55), Bintulu (52), Song (49), Samarahan (25), Kabong (17), Sebauh and Beluru (16 each), Subis (nine), Kanowit and Tatau (eight each), Mukah, Asajaya and Selangau (seven each), Sri Aman (five), Telang Usan (four), Dalat), Serian and Marudi (three each), Bukit Mabong, Sarikei and Meradong (two each), and Betong (one).
Of the 703 cases, 39 people had shown signs and experienced symptoms of Covid-19 infection during screening.
SDMC said 513 cases have recovered and allowed to be discharged from the respective hospitals and Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centres (PKRC) across the state.
Of the total, Miri had 107 cases of recovered patients, Kuching (103), Bintulu (92), Sibu (68), Kapit (48), Mukah (28), Sri Aman (24), Sarikei (21), Serian and Betong (11 each).
To date, this brings the total number of Covid-19 positive cases that have recovered and discharged to 42,358 or 81.65 percent of the total cases in the state.
In addition, as of today, the number of active cases still receiving treatment and segregated in the PKRC and hospital wards stands at 9,078 people.
Meanwhile, there were 703 new person-under-investigations (PUI) reported.
