KUCHING: Sarawak and China are making strides in technology collaboration, with a focus on cutting-edge projects.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has lauded the partnership, specifically pointing to the world’s first hydrogen-powered autonomous rapid transit (ART) as a key achievement.
“China’s robust economic growth is an exemplary model that Sarawak aims to emulate.
“This year commemorates the 50th anniversary of Malaysia-China diplomatic ties, a milestone of great importance for both China and Sarawak,” said Abang Johari in a speech read by his deputy, Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, at the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Sarawak (ACCCIS) Chinese New Year celebration at the Imperial Hotel on Thursday.
Abang Johari credited these relations with not only enhancing economic links but also promoting cultural exchanges and educational partnerships.
Meanwhile, he commended the ACCCIS for its unwavering support of Sarawak government policies and encouraged members to actively promote the Sarawak government’s strategic plan, the Post-COVID Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030.
Additionally, he urged entrepreneurs to back sustainable transition initiatives that comply with environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles.
“Incorporating ESG principles into our business models will not only enhance global market access for our products but also support environmental conservation, social responsibility, and good governance,” he said.
He also highlighted the critical role of artificial intelligence (AI) in the rapidly evolving technological landscape, urging entrepreneurs to invest in technology and innovation for sustainable growth and competitiveness.
“Embracing AI across various sectors is not just a trend but a necessity for maintaining sustainable growth and competitiveness,” he added.
