KUCHING: The Sarawak Civil Service (SCS) has made significant progress in digital transformation, enhancing service delivery for both employees and the public.

State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki said over 1,000 services have been identified for digitalisation by 2030, with 20 per cent already operational online.

He said the Sarawak Service App saw a substantial increase in downloads and online transactions and payments, indicating improved access to government services.

“SCS will continue to be committed in the implementation and delivery of programmes and projects rolled out by the Sarawak government,” he said at the Civil Service Day 2024, launched by Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg here on Wednesday (Feb 7).

Meanwhile, under the 12th Malaysia Plan (12MP), Abu Bakar said a sum of RM38bil has been allocated for 1,386 projects whereby 50 per cent of the said projects are completed.

In 2023, he said 89.8 per cent of the RM8bil allocation was utilised, showcasing fiscal prudence while under the alternative funding, a total of 2,133 projects worth RM41.4bil was approved with 786 projects completed.

He said that the Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) have played an important role in uplifting the rural communities with 20,402 projects approved since 2015.

“With the unwavering commitment of our civil services, we have completed 82.5 per cent of these projects.”

Touching on other achievements, he said 58 offices were certified with MS ISO 9001:2015, achievement in International Convention on Quality Control Circles (ICQCC) 2023 in Beijing, hosting several innovation conventions as well as appointing Certified Integrity Officers (CEIOs) in all departments under SCS, leading with the highest number of CEIOs in Malaysia.

For this year’s Civil Service Day, themed ‘Driving Relevance, Inspiring Change For Future Sarawak’, he said this deeply resonates with the core principles of SCS.

“Civil servants must always be relevant in every aspect, irrespective of our location, the era we find ourselves in, the environment we operate within or the circumstances we face.

“We must maintain our professional competence and adaptability to effectively serve the public and fulfil our responsibilities.
