KOTA SAMARAHAN: Sarawak and Selangor played out a thrilling 2-2 draw in their final Group B match at the 21st Malaysia Games (SUKMA XXI) today (Aug 17).

The result saw Sarawak advance to the knockout stage as the group’s second-placed team, where they will face the Federal Territories on Monday.

Mohammad Nazir Mahdini gave Sarawak the perfect start with a goal inside the opening minute, but Selangor responded quickly through Syahir Iqbal Khan Akbar Khan just two minutes later.

Awang Irfan Shahreeza Awang Ahmad restored Sarawak’s lead in the fifth minute, but Selangor refused to give up and equalised through Ahmed Haziq Haiqal in the 34th minute.

Both teams had chances to win the match in a frantic finale, but the score remained 2-2.
Selangor topped Group B with three wins and a draw, while Sarawak’s two wins and two draws secured second place.
