MIRI: The Sarawak women’s rugby squad made history at Sukma 2024 by securing their first silver medal since 2018.

The team displayed remarkable tenacity and skill throughout the tournament, culminating in a thrilling final against Selangor today (Aug 22).

Sarawak’s journey to the final was marked by a hard-fought victory in the semi-finals, where they edged out Terengganu with a narrow 5-0 win.

However, the final proved to be a tougher challenge as they faced off against a formidable Selangor side.

Despite a valiant effort, Sarawak fell short, with the match ending 15-7 in favour of Selangor.

Terengganu, the team Sarawak defeated in the semi-finals, went on to claim the bronze medal, rounding out the podium in the women’s rugby competition.

This silver medal marks a significant achievement for Sarawak’s women’s rugby team as they continue to build on their success and aim for gold in future competitions.
