KUCHING: Police trainees must embrace technological advancements and progress forward, rather than adhering to outdated methods.
Having said this, Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata noted the evolving nature of policing and the need for officers to be progressive in their approach.
“Every police officer should no longer practise outdated work systems and must be more progressive in keeping up with technological advancements.
“Technological progress directly challenges the capabilities of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in facing increasingly complex current challenges,” he said.
Mancha was delivering his speech at the Constable Basic Police Training Programme (PLAK) Graduation Parade at the Kuching Police Academy (Pulapol) today (July 27).
Moving forward, Mancha said the police will continue to provide opportunities for those interested in advancing their education.
“Many of you (police trainees) will serve as ‘front liners’ for the PDRM.
“Prepare yourself with the necessary skills and knowledge to handle any challenges you may face during your field duties,” he said to the police trainees.
Additionally, he said the PDRM training also focuses on developing growth in moral values and enhancing systems and work procedures to ensure the excellent governance of the police force.
“These efforts represent the police’s strategic direction to further enhance team image, customer satisfaction, and public confidence in the police force,” he said.
Mancha also took time to congratulate and praise the 487 trainees who participated in today’s parade for their commitment and dedication shown during six months of training, leading to their successful appointment as police officers.
Also present at the Basic Police Training Programme (PLAK) Constable Series 66 1/2024 was SAC Zulfikar Mohd Ghazali, who is the commandant of the Kuching Pulapol.
