KUCHING: Tyng Dance Academy (TDA) has raised the bar for excellence after a remarkable performance at the 5th Asia Open Dance Championship, held in Kuala Lumpur from Sept 14 to 17.

The academy returned home with four grand awards, along with seven gold and 18 silver medals, establishing itself as a beacon of Sarawakian talent on the international stage.

Dance teacher Tyng Tyng expressed pride in representing Sarawak and achieving these remarkable accolades.

“These achievements belong to our entire team, our supporters, and our home state of Sarawak,” she said in statement today.

She added the championship also served as a platform for TDA to showcase the strength and talent from the state.

“The academy’s extraordinary performance not only earned accolades but also put Sarawak firmly on the map as a centre of artistic excellence in the world of dance,” she said.

She said the achievements serve as a milestone for the academy’s future as it continues to nurture world-class talent from Sarawak, inspiring the next generation of dancers.

Meanwhile, the four grand awards secured by TDA were the Best School Award, Outstanding Instructor Award, Outstanding Dancer Award, and Top Scorer Award.

In addition, the academy won seven gold medals across various categories such as Lyrical Duo/Trio, Modern Jazz Solo Senior A, National Solo Primary B, National Solo Senior A, National Duo Senior B, Duo & Trio Primary B and Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Junior B.

TDA also clinched 18 silver medals in various categories, including Modern Jazz Solo Senior A, Modern Jazz Solo Senior A, Lyrical Solo Senior A, Ensemble Lyrical Senior B, National Solo Junior B, National Solo Senior B, Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Senior B, Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Junior B, Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Primary B, Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Junior A, Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Junior A, and Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Senior A.

The silver awards were won in Demi Character Children A, Ballet Repertoire or Fragment Solo Primary B, Demi Character Children B, Ballet New Creation Solo Primary A, Ballet New Creation Solo Junior B, and Ballet New Creation Solo Primary B.
