Sarawak dancesport athletes shine at Hanoi Stars Dance Festival

KUCHING: Sarawak dancesport athletes Eunice Ling and Cordelia Wee demonstrated their prowess at the Hanoi Stars Dance Festival in Bac Ninh, Hanoi recently, clinching an impressive tally of medals.

The Sarawak DanceSport Association said the duo grabbed two golds, two silvers, and three bronze medals collectively.

Eunice Ling emerged as a standout performer in the Hanoi Rising Star Junior II Single Dance events, clinching two golds in the Samba and Paso Doble dances, a silver in Jive, and two bronzes in the Rumba and Cha Cha Cha. 

In the WDSF Youth Solo Latin and Junior II Solo Latin events, Ling achieved commendable fifth and seventh place finishes respectively.

Wee made up for a slow start to claim the bronze in the Asia Star Adult event and later impressed by capturing silver in the Hanoi Rising Star Adult Female Single Dance with her Samba dance. 

Wee was also placed fourth and fifth in the Paso Doble and Rumba events respectively.

Younger teammates, Erin Ung, Arabelle Leah and Valery Chung found the competition tough but nevertheless gave a good account of themselves to qualify for the quarterfinals and semifinals in their various events.

Overall, team coach Cindy Chung of Russell & Randell Dance Company expressed satisfaction with the overall achievements while noting the potential of the dancers for further progress in future competitions.

The dance festival was held from July 5 to 7.
