KUCHING: Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin led a delegation from the Ministry of Transport Sarawak to Singapore from Oct 31 to Nov 1.

According to a press statement on Tuesday (Nov 1), the main objective of the visit was to study and learn from Singapore’s experiences in planning, managing and operating their land transportation system.

During the visit, Lee, the Minister for Transport, was accompanied by the ministry’s permanent secretary Datuk Ir. Alice Jawan Empaling and senior ministry officials.

During the trip, Lee paid a courtesy call on two Singaporean ministers – Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of National Development Singapore, and S. Iswaran, Minister for Transport Singapore.

Singapore, with its advanced public transportation system, would become the reference point for Sarawak as the state is developing its own public transportation system.

Lee also visited the Land Transport Authority of Singapore, Public Transport Council and SMRT Corporation Ltd.
