KUCHING: Sarawak plans to collaborate and partner with Bukwang Pharmaceutical,  a subsidiary of OCI Korea, in the field of pharmaceutical research and development, and manufacturing.

A Ministry of Education, Innovation and Talent Development (MEITD) delegation led by Minister Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn visited Bukwang Pharmaceutical yesterday (Dec 5).

The team was welcomed by OCI Korea chairman Lee Woo Hyun and senior OCI and Bukwang Pharmaceutical officials.

The delegation members included agencies like Sarawak Infectious Disease Centre (SIDC), Clinical Research Centre Sarawak General Hospital and Sarawak Biodiversity Centre. The visit involved a guided tour at Bukwang Research Institute to witness drug formulation R&D on site.

Accompanying Sagah were Deputy Minister Datuk Francis Harden Hollis, State Financial Secretary Datuk Seri Wan Lizosman Wan Omar, and MEITD permanent secretary Datuk Azmi Bujang.

Also in the delegation were SIDC CEO Dr Ivan Yap, Clinical Research Centre SGH director Alan Fong, SIDC board of directors member Datuk Dr Andrew Kiyu, and Prof Patrick Then from Swinburne University Sarawak.
