Sarawak Energy meet offers over RM6,000 cash prizes

KUCHING: Sarawak Energy will hold its inaugural Junior Badminton Championship at Sentosa Sports Centre at Jalan Stakan, here, from Aug 18 to 21. The tournament offers prizes worth more than RM6,000 and is now open to all Sarawakians, permanent residents and those with work and study permits, between the ages of 12 to 19 years old.

The tournament is divided into categories of Boys Singles, Girls singles, boys doubles and girls doubles for Under 12, Under 15 and Under 19 age groups. The competition is aimed at nurturing interest and develop potential young talents in badminton. It also provides an avenue to groom young shuttlers to compete at local, regional and international level.

The tournament will be played on single knock-out system and each player is permitted to participate in one tie per match and matches will be played on a 21 points 3-game system. Those keen to participate in the tournament are to register by submitting their forms to Sarawak Energy at Menara Sarawak Energy at the Isthmus together with their entry fee of RM10 per player for singles category and RM15 for the double category.

Registration forms can be obtained at Sarawak Energy’s official website – http://www.sarawakenergy. com.my or Sarawak Energy’s official facebook account. Entry fees are non-refundable and to be paid either in cash or crossed cheque made payable to Syarikat SESCO Berhad. All entries must be submitted with copies of the players’ identification card, permanent resident’s certificate, and work and study permits.

The closing date to submit the entries is by 12noon on August 10 while the draw for the tournament placement will be held on August 15 at 2pm at Menara Sarawak Energy. For more details on the tournament logon to www.sarawakenergy. com.my or Sarawak Energy’s official facebook account.
