KUCHING: Ten Sarawak entrepreneurs collectively achieved sales of over RM 670,000, through both contracts and direct sales at the 19th Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2023.

In a statement, the Ministry of International Trade, Industry, and Investment (Mintred) announced that it had collaborated with several government agencies, including Craun Research Sdn Bhd, the Sarawak Department of Agriculture, the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation, and the Sarawak Digital Economic Corporation. Together, they selected these entrepreneurs to showcase and sell items such as handicrafts, food, and drinks at the expo.

Highlighted products included instant kolok noodles, Sarawak coffee, chocolate, sugarcane products, and local crafts.

For context, MIHAS is an annual event that gathers businesses from Malaysia and across the globe involved in the halal industries. This covers diverse sectors ranging from food to finance, fashion, health, green tech, IT, and tourism designed for Muslim travelers.

This year’s MIHAS blended both in-person and online exhibits.
