KUCHING: The Sarawak government and Imperial College have mutually agreed to ongoing discussions regarding potential collaborations in training human capital for technical expertise in AI/VR technology, CO2 plant operations, and net-zero labs.
According to a press release, Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan led a delegation to visit Imperial College in London today (Dec 13) and was briefed on the aforementioned technology developments.
The visit followed the participation of the Sarawak delegation at the 2023 United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP28) in Dubai. This year’s event focused on technology and innovation, inclusion, frontline communities, and finance.
Awang Tengah was briefed on various research projects at Imperial College, including the piloted Carbon Capture and Carbon Storage technologies.
Accompanying Awang Tengah during the visit were State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki; Deputy Minister for International Trade, Industry and Investment, Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh; Ministry of Natural Resources and Urban Development permanent secretary Datuk Zaidi Mahdi; Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment acting permanent secretary Dzulkornain Masron; Economic Planning Unit director Datuk Lester Matthew; Land and Survey director Datuk Abdullah Julaihi; Regional Corridor Development Authority CEO Datuk Ismawi Ismuni; Petroleum Sarawak Berhad senior vice-president (corporate strategy) Abang Arabi Abang Narudin, and InvestSarawak CEO Timothy Ong.
