TORONTO: A Sarawak government delegation is looking into exploring innovative water management techniques and technologies while also establishing new industry partnerships at the International Water Association (IWA) World Water Congress and Exhibition 2024 (WWCE 2024).

Led by Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, the objective of the delegation at the congress includes gaining insights into the latest trends in best practice, innovative technologies in water sector and management approaches, as well as engaging with industry leaders which aims to foster new collaboration to shape our water future.

The ministry said as announced on Sept 16, 2023 during the Malaysia Day celebration, Kuching has been elected as the host city for the IWA World Water Congress & Exhibition 2028.

“Therefore, one of the other objectives is to promote this event in Sarawak to all international delegates,” it said in a statement.

Held at Metro Toronto Convention Centre, Toronto, Canada, the global biennial event is a platform to create new insights into how pioneering science, technological innovation and leading practices shape water management.

Besides, it also provides new networking and business opportunities, and ensures maximum exposures between participant, exhibitors and sponsors.

IWA WWCE 2024, themed ‘Shaping Our Water Future’, encompasses diverse range of themes such as water utility management, wastewater treatment and resource recovery, drinking water and potable use, city scale planning and operations, communities, communication and partnerships and water resource and large-scale water management.

Meanwhile, the delegation is scheduled to meet with Toronto Water, the municipal division of the City of Toronto, which is the Platinum Sponsor for the IWA WWCE 2024.

Earlier, Julaihi also met with IWA president Tom Mollenkopf and IWA executive director Kala Vairavamoorthy.
