KUCHING: Sarawak welcomes research institutions from Borneo and around the world to invest and join hands with its researchers to share, exchange ideas and provide expertise to produce new products and solutions for the world.
In stating this, Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg pointed out that Sarawak has proven itself to be an advanced state as the frontrunner in green technology, hydropower and hydrogen, as well as various downstream industries for the nation and Southeast Asia.
He said during his recent trip to the 2023 World Hydropower Congress at Bali Nusa Dua Convention Centre, Sarawak’s initiative received a positive response.
“We are constantly looking for development of new innovative industries, focusing on eco-friendly technologies and green initiatives like renewable energy and environmental conservation that are aligned perfectly with the global shift towards sustainable practices,” he said when officiating at the International Business Review Borneo Awards 2023 here on Friday (Nov 3).
“Therefore, continuous research is necessary to explore the unknown, enhance productivity, stimulate economic vitality and also foster international collaboration in various fields,” he said.
In light of this, he also welcomed all captains of industries to explore the opportunities here for investment and to collaborate for mutual growth and prosperity.
“The global marketplace is a dynamic arena that always challenges us to be agile, adaptable and forward-thinking in order to foster inclusivity and champion sustainability.
“I assure you that there are many opportunities for all of you to explore in Sarawak. Prospects do not lie just in the upstream activities, but there are far more to explore in the value and supply chains of industry, both vertically and horizontally.
“With that, let us renew our commitment to shaping a future where international business is not just a vehicle for economic growth but also a force for positive transformation,” he said.
