KUCHING: The Sarawak Government has prioritized the mental health of its civil servants, as stated by State Secretary Datuk Amar Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki.

He emphasised the importance of mental and physical well-being in enhancing productivity and efficiency within the public service sector.

During his address at the Jubilee Conference on Psychology, Counselling, and Wellbeing of the Sarawak Civil Service, he mentioned that health had been a significant topic during his recent discussions with department heads from Sarawak while visiting Brunei Darussalam.

“As civil servants, we cannot overlook health-related matters, whether they concern mental or physical well-being. These aspects must be given the attention they deserve,” he stressed.

Abu Bakar urged the Human Resource Development and Management Unit to intensify their efforts in promoting health awareness among civil servants, underlining that good health significantly contributes to increased productivity.

“While health issues may sometimes be unavoidable, preventive care and proper healthcare should be emphasized,” he added.
