KUCHING: The Blood Bank Centre at Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) is currently grappling with increased demands for Type O blood, prompting a plea for individuals with this blood type to step forward.
SGH Blood Bank, in a recent Facebook post, announced designated blood donation campaigns scheduled throughout the week to address the urgent need.
Donors with Type O blood, especially those who have exceeded the three-month interval since their last donation, are particularly sought after to meet the heightened demand for this blood type among patients at the hospital.
“The presence of donors is immensely appreciated, contributing significantly to the wellbeing and survival of patients in need,” it said.
Several blood donation drives are scheduled at different locations. From Jan 22 to 24, a drive will take place at SGH’s Blood Bank Centre, welcoming donors between 8am to 12.30pm or from 2pm to 4.30pm.
On Jan 24, another opportunity to donate arises at Dewan Cyberguna, Matang Vocational College from 9am to 1pm.
Jan 25 and 26 will witness a blood donation drive at SGH’s Blood Bank Centre from 8am to 12.30pm or from 2pm to 4.30pm. An additional drive is set to take place at Level 1, UTC Hallway from 9am to 1pm on Jan 25.
Furthermore, a blood donation drive will be held on Jan 27 at Level 2, Mall 2, Cityone Megamall from 10am to 3pm.
