BETONG: The Sarawak government will continue to assist in upgrading dilapidated schools.

Saribas assemblyman Mohd Razi Sitam said these included dilapidated schools in his constituency.

“Schools are under the federal government and it is quite difficult for the Sarawak government to help in some matters.

“Therefore, due to the concern of the Sarawak government, they are ready to help in order to provide comfort for the students,” he said as reported by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas).

He said this during the ‘Majlis Randau Kepimpinan’ here recently.

In addition, Razi said he received many requests from schools, among others, to build futsal courts.

“However, not all of them could be granted by the Sarawak government since schools are under the purview of the federal government.”

At the same ceremony, Razi handed over Minor Rural Project (MRP) cheques for RM30,000 each to Saribas Traditional Gasing Sport Club and Komuniti Gawai Dayak, while a total of RM10,000 was presented to member of Betong Hospital Visitor Board.
