KUCHING: The 1st Malaysian Junior and Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championship, held from June 16 to 18 this year, at Stadium Bukit Jalil  showcased exceptional talent and fierce competition as participants from 11 states gathered to compete for top honours.

The Sarawak Amateur Gymnastic Association (SAGYMA) made a remarkable impact, sending a group of dedicated athletes and coaches who excelled in both individual and group exercises.

Led by experienced coach Hinano Kaizu, assistant coach Scarlett Yuki Chan, team manager Soong Khim Nyuk, and judge Lydia Wong, the Sarawak team demonstrated immense skill and determination throughout the championship. Their remarkable achievements are a testament to their commitment and dedication to the sport.

In the group exercise category, the Sarawak team captured the spotlight by winning a well-deserved bronze medal.

“Individually, the Sarawak gymnasts showcased their prowess, earning an impressive total of three gold and twenty-two bronze medals across various age categories. Their outstanding performances highlighted their technical precision, grace, and artistic expression,” said Hinano.

She expressed her pride in the team’s achievements and commended the gymnasts for their hard work.

Hinano also stressed the importance of continuing their training with even more focus, strength, and a high level of mental fortitude to achieve further success in future competitions.

The first Malaysian Junior and Senior Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships concluded on a high note, with the SAGYMA leaving an indelible mark. As the nation celebrates their accomplishments, the future of rhythmic gymnastics in Malaysia looks brighter than ever.

With the guidance of their dedicated coaches and the unwavering support from their families and fans, the Sarawak gymnasts are poised to continue their journey towards further triumphs in gymnastics.
