KUCHING: Sarawak reduced the electricity tariffs twice during the late Pehin Sri Adenan Satem’s time, said Utilities Minister Datuk Seri Stephen Rundi Utom.
He added the electricity tariffs had also been reduced during Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg’s time.
“It was before and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The rates in Sarawak are the lowest, and the figures are proven by Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB),” he told New Sarawak Tribune on Sunday (June 21).
Rundi also pointed out that the electricity tariffs in the state were discounted further by 25 percent during a period of six months.
Last Saturday (June 20), the Federal Minister of Energy Natural Resources, Datuk Dr Shamsul Annuar introduced ‘Bantuan Prihatin Elektric Tambahan’ which revealed a total of RM942 million in discounts and rebates for domestic users’ electricity bills in Malaya.
