KUCHING: Abang Mat Ali Abang Masagus has been appointed as the new State Education Department director.
In announcing this, Education, Science and Technological Research Minister Datuk Seri Michael Manyin congratulated Abang Mat Ali on his new position.
“He is now the new State Education Department director and was appointed two weeks ago,” he told a press conference on the reopening of the schools in Baitul Makmur Building on Thursday.
Later, speaking to reporters, Abang Mat Ali said the department was working with the state government and Sarawak Volunteers to bring back teachers from Malaya to Sarawak before June 20.
According to him, a total of 1,716 teachers will use flights managed by Sarawak Volunteers.
“The remaining 948 teachers are those who manage their own flights and some have returned to Sarawak,” he said.
