KUCHING: The Sarawak Heritage Kitchen 2023 programme held yesterday can be a pivotal event as a venue for entrepreneurs to interact with each other, said Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Dr Ripin Lamat.
Stating this during his speech at the Sarawak Heritage Kitchen 2023 closing ceremony at the Garden House, Old Museum here, he said, at the same time, it allowed entrepreneurs to market their products to the general public and introduce their products or businesses to a wider market.
“Through such activities, they can also showcase their company’s products to entrepreneurs that are starting or heading towards larger ventures.
“There is no easy path to success, especially for those venturing into entrepreneurship. I am aware that many among us have been dedicating decades to developing products and working tirelessly,” he said.
He added that the effort could be witnessed through continuous progress in the respective businesses, and the government, especially Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, was deeply attentive regarding the development of the business community in Sarawak.
“Therefore, in the Post COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030, the development of entrepreneurs, both existing and new comers, is a major focus.
“Additionally, the government has implemented various policies to assist entrepreneurs in further developing their businesses and the entrepreneurial community.
“Entrepreneurs in this state need to be aware of the programmes and assistance provided by the government and private sector,” he said.
He added that through grant applications and training, they could expand their businesses and market their products to a wider audience besides advising them to constantly strive and be resourceful in seeking entrepreneurial assistance and training.
He also mentioned that entrepreneurs could adapt their businesses to the current digital technology trends.
“We hope entrepreneurs will embrace these technological changes in their businesses, including payment methods, as it will drive business trends today and in the future,” he said.
The Sarawak Heritage Kitchen programme is held in conjunction with the International Museum Day 2023 which ran from July 31 to yesterday, themed ‘Museum, Sustainability and Well-Being’.
