KOTA SAMARAHAN: Sarawak is among the states leading in registering and updating information under the Central Database Hub (PADU).
Chief statistician Malaysia Datuk Seri Dr Mohd Uzir Mahidin said that Sarawak has achieved 310,000 updates, equivalent to 15 per cent of its 1.9 million population.
He asserted that Sarawak is at the forefront in terms of awareness and commitment to updating the system.
“I expect it to increase rapidly, and Sarawak might be one of the states to complete the PADU system update.
“In terms of awareness and commitment to participating in the government’s PADU implementation programme, including explanations and understanding by Sarawak’s residents, it is particularly advanced, especially under the leadership and collaboration of the state government under the Premier,” he said.
He told the media this during his visit to the PADU booth during the Mini Rural Entrepreneur Carnival here today (Feb 2).
On the same note, Mohd Uzir said that more initiatives are being made to involve community leaders, particularly in rural areas.
Based on the registration trend, he said, the elderly are among the most adept at updating information in the system compared to the technologically savvy group.
In this regard, he urged the group to promptly update information in PADU rather than waiting until the last moment of registration to avoid website traffic congestion.
“I hope those who have the capability at the moment assist in updating to prevent traffic congestion,” he said.
This, he said, is because the Department of Statistics does not want the members of public to miss out on government programmes based on PADU.
