KUCHING: The Sarawak government and Indonesia have reached an agreement to establish cooperation in order to explore and utilise the potential that exists in this state.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to Malaysia, Hermono said, this cooperation is expected to provide significant economic benefits for both parties.
“The potential is huge and Sarawak and Indonesia can mutually strengthen each other’s economic growth through joint collaboration.
“We observe that Sarawak and Kalimantan have great potential, one of which is about energy, food and the most important thing that the Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg strongly agrees is about carbon trading,” he said.
He said this when met by the media after paying a courtesy call on Abang Johari at his office in the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly building yesterday.
Hermono further said that Sarawak and Indonesia will mutually exchange knowledge and experience in utilising natural resources continuously.
Therefore, he welcomed this collaboration and hoped for a close collaboration between the two sides.
