KUCHING: The Sarawak Islamic Council (MIS) has launched the Yang di-Pertua (YDP) Visit initiative across Sarawak in connection with the upcoming Maal Hijrah celebration.

The Chief’s Visit is an endeavour by MIS, along with other Islamic agencies, to foster closer ties with the Muslim community and promote the spirit of perseverance and unity in community development.

Datuk Misnu Taha, the Chairman of MIS, emphasized that this approach is not limited to Muslims alone. They will also extend compassion to followers of other religions in Sarawak, aiming to spread feelings of love and affection in line with the spirit of Maal Hijrah.

“This strategy by MIS aims to uplift the quality of the ummah by the Post-COVID-19 Development Strategy (PCDS) 2030 and support the state government’s efforts in developing the Muslim community,” he said.

He made these remarks during the press conference for the Sarawak Maal Hijrah Celebration in 2024.

Furthermore, he announced that the Sarawak Maal Hijrah celebration would include two events: the ‘End of Year 1445 Hijri and the Beginning of Year 1446 Hijri Prayer Ceremony’ and the ‘Maal Hijrah Assembly’ on July 6 and 7 at the Sarawak State Mosque and HIKMAH Exchange Hall.
