KUCHING: The Sarawak Labour Department has commenced its fifth edition of Labour Go Rural Area Programme (L-GRAP 5.0) today (May 22).
The programme, which will conclude on May 26 aims to benefit and raise awareness among local residents about their rights as workers under national labour laws, job opportunities, opportunities to continue education in skills training, and more.
Sarawak Labour Department director Awang Raduan Awang Omar said the convoy, consisting of 15 vehicles, will cover the areas of Daro, Balingian, and conclude in Mukah.
“Before that, the convoy will stop at Spaoh and Debak to distribute flyers to the public.
“Various departments and agencies under the Ministry of Human Resources (KESUMA) participating in the convoy took this golden opportunity to engage with the local residents and provide brief explanations about the services and functions offered,” he said in a press release today.
He added that the L-GRAP 5.0 convoy will head to the Daro community hall on May 23, featuring various activities such as labour law talks, briefings on job scams by the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and briefings on the functions of various government departments and agencies.
“Additionally, MyFutureJobs registration will be available at the venue (Daro community hall) and Balingian Community Hall for youth and job seekers to seize better employment opportunities.
“Talks and briefings for youth and students interested in furthering their education in technical and vocational skills will also be provided,” he added.
The public, especially residents around Daro and Mukah, are invited to attend.
