BINTULU: Aware of the crucial roles youths play in Sarawak, the state government looks to ensure the increase in Esports participation from this group.
“Esports is the future, and we want our youth participation to increase,” said Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
Speaking at the FIFA19 Esports closing ceremony at Paragon Mall here yesterday, he said the state government via its Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Ministry, would not hesitate to allocate funds for the development of Esports.
Also present at the event were Deputy Chief Ministers Tan Sri Datuk Amar Dr James Jemut Masing and Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas.
The event was held in conjunction with the Sarawak Day celebration.
The champion received RM5,000, the first runner-up pocketed RM2,000 while the second runner-up took home RM1,000.
The event was hosted by Sarawak Esports Association.
