KUCHING: Sarawak Metro Sdn Bhd (Sarawak Metro) continues its commitment in promoting road safety culture with the Road Safety Awareness Campaign and this time the campaign was near the Rembus Depot along the Blue Line alignment.

The campaign, organised yesterday in collaboration with the contractor for the construction of Rembus Depot, AIU JV, the joint venture company comprised of Azam Sehasrat Sdn Bhd, IJM Construction Sdn Bhd and Unique Deco Sdn Bhd, aims to raise greater awareness of road safety practices among road users and construction workers in and around the Kuching Urban Transportation System (KUTS) project area.

“The campaign was supported by Road Transport Department (JPJ), Public Works Department (JKR) Samarahan Division, Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) Sarawak, Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), Samarahan District Office, IPD Samarahan and Samarahan Division Resident Office,” it said through a press statement by Sarawak Metro, today (Oct 25).

The campaign emphasises the importance of adhering to traffic rules, safety guidelines and signages, particularly near construction sites.

Sarawak Metro chief executive officer Ts Mazli Mustaffa highlighted Sarawak Metro’s ongoing efforts to enhance road safety practices as the KUTS project progresses.

“Sarawak Metro will continue to promote safety habits among road users, particularly those travelling along our KUTS project alignment,” he said, reiterating on the importance of observing traffic rules and all the road safety signages and measures put in place near the construction sites.

“We are doubling our efforts to create greater road safety awareness as we now go into full swing in implementing the project in Kuching and Kota Samarahan.

“Today’s campaign is organised with our contractor for the construction of the Rembus Depot and we are grateful for the support and commitment of our contractor and related agencies in promoting a road safety culture,” he added.

The campaign is part of Sarawak Metro’s larger strategy to ensure the safety of all road users, with a focus on creating safer practices among motorists, pedestrians and construction workers involved in the project.
