KUCHING: The two-day Sarawak Motorsports Festival (SMF) 2022 successfully gathered sports car and cub prix motorcycle enthusiasts from throughout Sarawak.
Drivers and riders from Sri Aman and Sibu also enlivened the atmosphere at the race track located at the Sarawak Stadium, Petra Jaya here yesterday.
Visitors and motorsports enthusiasts alike certainly provided strong support for the programme.
The programme which was hosted starting from morning until night also provided a variety of interesting events that could only be experienced here.
Members of the public could experience an adrenaline rush by professional drivers at the festival.
A ‘taxi ticket” can be purchased at a booth located near the track before choosing a beast (drift car) to feel the experience.
With tickets priced at RM30 each, one will be equipped with a safety helmet and hair-net before the drive begins.
The professional driver then will assist with the proper four-point seat belt insertion, to provide a good safety measurement for the passenger.
One will enjoy a three-lap drifting ride, immersed in the centripetal force which comes to bear when the car performs a drift turn.
Visitors can also visit more than 30 stalls available here, which provide food, drinks and products from local entrepreneurs.
Apart from that, an anime (a style of Japanese comic book and video cartoon animation) cosplayers can also be found walking around the venue. Those who attend the event can take a photo with them to show support for the event.
The festival, which was hosted for the first time in Kuching served as a platform for motorsports enthusiasts to showcase their modified cars as well as to promote the scene to local folks.
Through SMF, it is believed to be able to provide opportunities for motorsports fans to perform on a suitable and safe platform.
It also provides a reason for participants to establish a strong network especially in businesses and friendship.
