KUCHING: The Sarawak Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) has been tasked with ensuring every drug arrest leads to a thorough follow-up with the aim of eradicating the drug menace.

“The team must put an emphasis on aggressive investigation to prosecute drug pushers with severe penalties, in addition to sustained efforts targeting drug addiction hubs for complete eradication,” said Bukit Aman NCID director CP Datuk Khaw Kok Chin.

“Every drug arrest must be meticulously followed up or ‘snowballed’ to eliminate drug distribution at its roots.

“All officers must be unwavering in their commitment to safeguarding the nation from the scourge of drugs,” he added.

This directive was one of seven mandates delivered by Khaw during a meeting with members of the Sarawak NCID on yesterday (Mar 19).

Sarawak NCID officers and members listen attentively to the seven mandates delivered by CP Datuk Khaw Kok Chin.

Firstly, he emphasised fostering a spirit of teamwork and cooperation among members, as the main initiative to lead NCID towards greater success.

Secondly, he stressed the importance of officers’ adherence to duty and ensure there are no breaches within the team, thus upholding NCID’s integrity and harmony.

Khaw also urged the team to align themselves with the Inspector-General of Police’s (IGP) two main focuses – supporting integrity and good governance in service provision, and backing government policies towards well-being.

“NCID officers should set an example of good governance for their peers, alongside maintaining continuous supervision and adherence to IGP’s Standing Orders and Regulation 3C of the Civil Guard (Conduct and Discipline) Regulations 1993.”

Before ending the meeting, Khaw stressed that NCID officers and members should never get involved with drug syndicates and “become enemies in blankets”.

He urged all of them to work with full sincerity and integrity in order to uphold the image of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) in the eyes of the community.

Also present at the meeting were Bukit Aman NCID deputy director (Enforcement/Prevention/General Policing) SAC Mat Zani @ Mohd Salahuddin Che Ali and Sarawak NCID chief ACP Mustafa Kamal Ghani Abdullah.
