KUCHING: A total of 190 participants from 21 countries participated in the three-day 12th World Organisation for Early Childhood Education (OMEP) Asia-Pacific conference from Dec Dec 6 to 8 in Sydney.
Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah led a Sarawak delegation to the study visit to Mia Mia Child and Family Centre, and a visit to the Waratah Cottage/ Long Day Child Care Centre before proceeding to the official launch of the conference.
On the second day, Fatimah presented a paper entitled ‘Providing Access, Equity, Quality, and Inclusive Early Childhood Education in Sarawak’.
For the record, the OMEP’s aims and objectives are to defend and promote the rights of the child with special emphasis on the right to education and care worldwide.
To this end, the OMEP will help in any undertaking which could promote access to quality early childhood education and care.
Other members of the Sarawak delegation comprised Deputy Minister Datuk Rosey Yunus, deputy permanent secretary Colliner Goher, two of the ministry’s officers and four educators from SeDIDIK Sarawak.
