KUCHING: The performing arts scene in the state will continue to receive strong support from the Sarawak government.

Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said that an amount of RM300 million has been allocated to renovate the old Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building to transform it into a state-of-the-art performing arts centre.

“The performing arts centre will be equipped with advanced staging and audio facilities.

“This will give space for people to perform performing arts whether music, culture or any entertainment that we are to share with the locals as well as the tourists,” he said.

He said this during the Night at the Museum event held at the museum last night (Sept 21).
