KUCHING: The Sarawak ping pong team demonstrated their prowess by defeating Selangor in the third-place match at the 2024 SUKSEM IX held here, yesterday (Oct 18).
With a commanding performance, the Sarawak squad won all three sets, clinching the bronze medal for the contingent.
The gold medal in ping pong went to the home team, Terengganu, while Sabah took home the silver with a total score of 3-1.
In netball, however, Sarawak fell short of securing third place, losing to the home team Terengganu with a score of 41-27 in a match held on the same day.
Datuk Buckland Bangik, the chef de mission for the Sarawak contingent, was present to support the netball team during the match at the Indoor Stadium of the Terengganu State Sports Complex.
Terengganu established an early lead, finishing the first set at 21-11.
Despite Sarawak’s efforts to rally in the second half, Terengganu proved too strong, maintaining a comfortable lead until the final whistle.
