KUCHING: A total of 700 police personnel from various branches of the Sarawak Contingent will be deployed for Ops Selamat 22 during Hari Raya Aidilfitri from April 8 to 13.
Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mancha Ata announced that the six-day operation will be conducted by members of the Sarawak Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department.
“The focus of Ops Selamat 22 for Hari Raya Aidilfitri 2024 will be on federal, state and city roads, especially in accident-prone areas and locations prone to traffic congestion, including residential areas and public settlements.
“A total of 49 accident-prone locations have been identified, and patrols will be conducted during the operation.”
Comm Mancha said the operation aims to reduce the rate of road accidents, enforce traffic laws and regulations, ensure the comfort and safety of road users, and prevent burglary crimes.
All road users are urged to adhere strictly to traffic regulations and comply with instructions from enforcement officers on the roads during this festive season.
“Strict action will be taken against any road users found violating traffic rules and regulations.
“Prioritise your safety and that of your family, and keep your loved ones in mind. We also request the public’s cooperation in informing the police when leaving their residential homes during this festive season,” he added.
