Sarawak recorded 1,339 Covid-19 cases on Friday

KUCHING: The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) has approved the reopening of cinemas, starting Sunday (Oct 10).

Meanwhile, Sarawak recorded 1,339 Covid-19 cases on Friday (Oct 8), bringing the state’s cumulative tally to 222,381.

According to SDMC, 1,315 cases (98.43 percent) comprised categories 1 and 2 while 21 cases (1.57 percent) were categories 3, 4 and 5.

Kuching registered the highest number of cases at 431, followed by Miri (179); Sibu (115); Lawas (70); Bintulu (68); Limbang (63); Mukah (39); Sarikei (35); Bau (34); Serian (33); Kanowit (26); Betong (24); Marudi (21) with Sri Aman and Matu recording 20 cases each.

Seventeen cases were reported in Kapit; 15 each in Daro, Samarahan and Simunjan; Lubok Antu (13), followed by 10 each in Saratok and Belaga.

Subis recorded nine cases; Pakan (eight); six cases each in Song and Asajaya; five cases each in Pusa, Kabong and Beluru; Lundu and Dalat (four each); Selangau and Bukit Mabong (three each) with two cases each in Tebedu, Meradong, Julau and Tatau.

At the same time, SDMC also declared the end of nine clusters in Sarawak, namely Nansang Tugong in Pakan District; Jero Gelasah in Subis District; Merajang in Limbang District; Maxbi Libai in Subis District; Nanga Tapih in Betong District; Jalan Masuri in Sibu District; Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman in Sibu District; Jalan Bintulu-Miri Dua in Bintulu District and Sungai Sawa in Pakan District after no new cases were reported involving these clusters in the last 28 days.

As of Friday, there are 80 active clusters in the state with 11 recording 38 new cases.
