KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 220 new positive Covid-19 cases on Monday, bringing the tally to 9,765.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas said of the total, 57 cases were reported in Bintulu district.
“Fifty-four cases were recorded in Sibu, Miri (37), Kapit (20), Kuching (12), Julau (10), Dalat (eight), Sarikei (five), Meradong (five), Betong (four), Song (two) and one respectively in Subis, Bau, Mukah, Samarahan, Bukit Mabong, as well as Selangau,” he said.
He also revealed that a total of 199 people had recovered and were discharged from hospitals in Sarawak.
“Eighty-two cases are at Sibu Hospital, Sarawak General Hospital (47), Bintulu Hospital (30), low-risk quarantine and treatment centre (PKRC) under Kapit Hospital (22), Sarikei Hospital (17) and Miri Hospital (one). This brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 7,263 or 74.38 percent of the total Covid-19 cases in the state.
“There are 2,385 people still undergoing treatments at PKRC and hospitals. As of Monday (Mar 1), there are 220 new persons under investigations (PUI) with no PUI awaiting lab test results,” he said.
He added that there are 26 active clusters in the state following the declaration by state Health Department on the end of the Bedayan Cluster in Serian district.
On the state’s vaccination progress, he said that a total of 8,323 people have been vaccinated within the last three days at nine divisions.
