KUCHING: Sarawak on Monday (Apr 5) recorded 225 Covid-19 positive cases, bringing the state’s tally to 17,779.
Of the total positive cases, Bintulu and Samarahan districts reported 43 cases respectively, Sibu (39), Miri (24), Julau (12), Sebauh (10), Kuching, Kapit, Sarikei and Beluru — seven each, Matu and Meradong —six each, Saratok (five), Serian and Song — three each, Lubok Antu (two) while Kanowit recorded one case.
Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 32 new cases showed symptoms during the screening tests.
Additionally, 190 out of 225 total cases comprised individuals who had been instructed to undergo quarantine at designated places.
“In short, 126 were screened after having contact to positive cases, 60 cases were individuals linked to active clusters, 21 detected from other screenings in health facilities, 14 from screening of symptomatic individuals, and four Import B cases involving individuals returning from other states,” it said in a daily Covid-19 statement today (Apr 5).
Sarawak also reported 238 patients had recovered and had been discharged from hospitals — 59 from Bintulu Hospital, 48 from Sibu Hospital, 38 from Miri Hospital, 34 from Sarawak General Hospital (SGH), 24 from Sarikei Hospital, 16 from Serian Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC), seven from Kapit PKRC, five from Sri Aman PKRC, five from Mukah PKRC and two from Betong PKRC.
“This brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 14,701 or 82.69 percent of the total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak,” SDMC stated.
It added that 2,904 individuals were still undergoing treatment at hospital isolation wards in the state — 604 in Sibu Hospital and PKRC, Miri Hospital and PKRC (487), Bintulu Hospital and PKRC (597), SGH and Kuching PKRC (384), Semuja Immigration Depot PKRC in Serian (192), Sarikei Hospital and PKRC (170), Sri Aman Prison PKRC (156), Serian PKRC (141), Kapit Hospital and PKRC (69), Sri Aman Hospital and PKRC (41), Mukah PKRC (29), Betong Hospital and PKRC (27), Limbang Hospital (four) and Lawas PKRC (three).
“Today (Monday), 225 new person-under-investigation (PUI) cases were reported,” he said.
