KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 726 Covid-19 positive cases today (May 29), bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 46,162.
The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), in a statement, said that 430 or 59.23 percent of the total cases detected were in Kuching, Kapit, Sibu, Miri and Subis districts.
Kuchng district recorded the highest number with 159 cases, followed by Kapit (73), Sibu (72), Miri (66), Subis (60), Bintulu (49), Samarahan (43), Pakan (28), Meradong (27), Selangau (16), Asajaya (16), Sarikei (15), Tanjung Manis (13), Beluru (13), Mukah (12), Serian (10), Matu (nine), Pusa (eight), Bau (eight), Betong (five), Simunjan (five), Kanowit (four), Julau (four), Tatau (two), Saratok (two), Marudi (two), Song (two), Lawas (one), Sri Aman (one) dan Sebauh (one).
Of the 726 cases which were reported, 41 had shown signs and experienced symptoms of Covid-19 infection during screening.
The SDMC said 497 cases had recovered and were allowed to be discharged from the respective hospitals and Covid-19 Low Risk Quarantine and Treatment Centre (PKRC) across the state.
Of these, 127 were from Sibu, and followed by Bintulu (105), Miri (72), Kuching (67), Kapit (42), Sarikei (28), Betong (26), Mukah (16), Sri Aman (seven) and Serian (seven).
With this, the total number of Covid-19 positive cases that had recovered and had been discharged was 37,872 or 82.04 percent of the total cases in the state.
SDMC said 7,907 people were still receiving treatments and segregated in the PKRC and hospital wards.
There were 726 new persons under investigation (PUI).
