KUCHING: Sarawak recorded four new positive Covid-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 565.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement, all four cases were reported in Kuching district involving two Malaysian citizens and two foreigners.

“The first local case is a 33-year old man working in a private event management company who underwent a Covid-19 screening to know his own infection status, while the second case is a 71-year old housewife who was screened before undergoing an eye surgery.

“Contact tracing in both cases and source of infection are still under investigation.

“Meanwhile, the two other cases involving foreigners from Indonesia were detected when they underwent Covid-19 screening to apply for work permits.

“However, during the investigation, the two persons ran away and have yet to be found at the time of the issuance of this statement,” it said.

It reminded employers to be vigilant and lodge a police report if the two cases try to find refuge at their place.
