KUCHING: Sarawak recorded one new Covid-19 case on Thursday (Oct 22), bringing the total number of positive cases in the state to 770.

According to the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the case involved a local senior citizen who tested positive following a screening test upon entry to the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH).

The case was also a close contact to Case 768, which was an index case detected on Oct 18 through symptomatic screening test.

“Case 770 underwent the screening test on Oct 18 and the result came back negative the next day.

“However, the case complained about fever and having cough since Oct 14 before being admitted to SGH on Wednesday (Oct 21).

“Upon her entry, she underwent a reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (rT-PCR) swab test and was found positive for the virus today (Oct 22),” it said in a statement.

SDMC also mentioned that the case had a medical history of diabetes, high blood pressure and dyslipidemia.
