KUCHING: Sarawak recorded yet another drop in new Covid-19 cases with 442 today, 33 fewer than the 475 registered last Sunday.
This brings the total number of cases in the state to 259,812.
In its daily update, the Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said one patient was categorised Category 4 (requiring oxygen) and another, Category 5 (requiring ventilator support).
A total of 241 other cases have been categorised Category 1 (no symptoms) and 199, Category 2 (mild symptoms).
“Kuching tops the list with 192 cases, followed by Miri with 101; Sibu (69); Bintulu (16); Kapit (13); Kota Samarahan (nine); Mukah (eight); Dalat (seven); Sarikei (five); three each in Lundu and Bau; two each in Saratok, Kanowit, Song, Meradong and Tatau; and one each in Lawas, Serian, Pakan, Sri Aman, Daro and Selangau.
“One new fatality was reported, and it involved a 74-year-old woman with high blood pressure, at Sibu Hospital.”
There are 107 new persons-under-surveillance and 285 of them are currently quarantined at designated hotels.
SDMC also stated that the total number of persons under surveillance who had been discharged numbered 166,976.
In terms of non-compliance to the standard operating procedures, the Sarawak Health Department had issued a total of 45 compound notices (39 individuals and six corporations) from Feb 20 to 26, bringing the total compounds issued since March last year, to 871.
Seventeen compounds were issued in Kuching, followed by 15 in Simunjan, seven in Simunjan and six in Serian.
Of the figure, 39 compounds were for failing to scan the MySejahtera before entering a premises, two each for failing to prepare hand sanitisers and limiting the number of customers, one for failing to prepare the MySejahtera and another corporation offense.
Meanwhile, Kuching police had issued a total of 11 compound notices to errant individuals for failing to wear face masks (five), failing to limit the number of customers in a premises (four), and failing to scan the MySejahtera before entering a premises (two).
This brings the total number of compounds issued by Sarawak police to 13,455.
