KUCHING: Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh is questioning the rationale of transferring police officers who are being investigated for extortion to Sabah and Sarawak.

In a Facebook post, he said social issues involving drug abuse, gambling and many others are not only increasing in Bau, but also in the state.

Miro further questioning the rationale for sending the problematic officers to the state, adding, “appropriate punishment should be given, instead of just taking the easy way out.”

Meanwhile, Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii also share the same view, saying that the issue is downright ridiculous.

“Why are we in Sabah and Sarawak made to suffer, and treated like a dumpsite for such unscrupulous officers?”, the Facebook post said.

On Tuesday, it was reported that nine police officers who were being probed for extorting a businessman in Gombak, Selangor were transferred to Sabah and Sarawak.

The officers, ranging from constables to sub-inspectors from the narcotics crime investigation department, were detained on Friday. Investigations are currently ongoing.
