BINTULU: The services and sacrifices of former members of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) will always be valued and highly esteemed even after they have retired.
Minister in the Premier’s Department, Datuk John Sikie Tayai, said the services of the former PDRM members remain held in high regard wherever they had served, ensuring societal harmony and national security.
He noted that the contributions and sacrifices of the former police members should be remembered by every citizen, especially considering their willingness to leave their beloved families to serve the nation.
“As we can see from the Lahad Datu intrusion in Sabah in 2013, 10 years ago, the intrusion led to 12 of our national officers falling in defense of the nation’s sovereignty.
“Therefore, we are very grateful and appreciate their contributions over the years, even though they have stopped or retired from their duties,” he said during his speech at the Reunion Dinner of Former Sarawak Police and the launch of the Welfare Fund Association of Former Malaysian Police of Sarawak State at Hotel Li-Hua, here, on Saturday.
At the event, Sikie also announced a donation of RM20,000 to the fund, which is designated to assist retired PDRM members and their families in need.
Also present were Former Malaysian Police of Sarawak association chairman, Han Hipni, Former Malaysian Police Bintulu Branch association chief, Pengiran Merais Pengiran Ismail, Political Secretary to the Sarawak Premier, Angellie Stephen Raja, Bintulu Division Deputy Resident Abang Zainudin Abang Turkey and ADAP 4orty Global Sdn. Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Pengiran Daud Pengiran Putera.
