KUCHING: Sarawak secured silver medals in the finals of the tennis competition at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma) today (Aug 23).
The tournament, which concluded today (Aug 23), saw the team earning two silver medals in the finals of the women’s doubles and mixed doubles matches at the Sarawak Lawn Tennis Association (SLATA) courts.
In the mixed doubles, the duo of Lydia Liong and Hii Shieng Wee were defeated by Perak’s Mitsuki Leong and Shihomi Leong.
Lydia and Shieng Wee lost in straight sets, 4-6 and 2-6, resulting in a 0-2 scoreline and allowing Perak to claim the gold medal.
Meanwhile, Selangor’s Saw Jo Leen and Hayden Khoo Menon took home the bronze medal.
Earlier, Lydia and her teammate Soo Hui Yii also secured silver in the women’s doubles final, marking another silver medal for Lydia.
Overall, the tennis tournament, which offered six gold medals, saw two gold each going to the teams from Perak, Selangor, and the Federal Territories.
