KUCHING: Semadang River in Penrissen has great potential as a tourism product that can be further developed as the most important tourist destination in Sarawak.

This is according to Sarawak Ministry of Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports Permanent Secretary, Datuk Ik Pahon Joyik.

He described the scenery along Semadang River (upstream part of Sungai Sarawak Kiri), from Kampung Annah Rais to Kampung Git as spectacular and a favourite with foreign tourists.

Pahon, who also participated in the kayaking competition, said he spoke with several foreign participants, “who said they were awed by what they saw along Semadang River”. – Bernama
