Sarawak sets aside RM20 mln for mini stadium construction in Tanjung Manis

BELAWAI: The Sarawak government has given the go-ahead for the construction of a a mini stadium in Tanjung Manis with an allocation of RM20 million.

The stadium will come complete with comprehensive amenities like racing tracks.

Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the initiative will benefit Tanjung Manis residents, especially students from nearby schools.

He anticipated the duration of construction to take three to four years, and appealed to the residents to remain patient throughout the process.

“With these facilities in the future, it will undoubtedly be easier for school students to engage in sports activities.

“It will also provide comfort for the residents in the Tanjung Manis area to participate in recreational activities.

“Through the allocation from the Rajang Delta Development Agencies (RADDA), we will build it in Tanjung Manis,” he said during the appreciation ceremony of Sekolah Menengah Kembangsaan (SMK) Belawai, at Dewan Sri Barong, SMK Belawai yesterday (Jan 25).

Len, who also serves as the Kuala Rajang assemblyman, underscored the key role of education in shaping the future, stressing that schools not only serve as places of learning but also as crucibles for nurturing future contributors to society.

He said schools should adapt in the face of the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR).

“We must be ready to reform the education system with innovative approaches and continuous strategies, especially in light of the impending Fourth Industrial Revolution,” he added.

Len said he is all for a national education system that embraces digitally-guided, interactive, and adaptable learning methods, recognising the importance of aligning with technological progress.

Also present were the Deputy District Education Officer, Student Development Sector, representing Daro Education Officer Junaidi Mohamed.
