KUCHING: The Sarawak shooting team won two medals at the 21st Malaysia Games (Sukma).
On the third day of the shooting event, Siti Nur Anniesa Mohd Danial Fikri, Leticia Chai Jia Yi, and Nur Izzaty Abdul Razi secured a silver medal in the women’s 10m air pistol team category, defeating Negeri Sembilan but falling short of Pahang, who claimed the gold.
The women’s team attributed their success to strong teamwork.
“Although we couldn’t secure the gold this time, we believe we gave our best effort. We may not be as strong individually, but as a team, we were able to win a medal for Sarawak,” they said.
As this Sukma marks their debut in the shooting event, the team is determined to return stronger in the next Games and aim for gold.
“No one wants to be placed anywhere but first. Therefore, we pledge to train harder for the next Sukma and win gold for Sarawak,” they added.
Meanwhile, in the women’s 50m prone rifle category, Kaira Ramadhani Azman won a bronze medal for Sarawak with a score of 581-26x.
The gold and silver medals were both claimed by Negeri Sembilan, with scores of 592-32x and 585-24x, respectively.
